📣 Hello Stay Montana Family!
We are delighted to announce that we are now an employee-owned company! Over the last years, David Moore and Laura Dwight have proven their leadership and worked extremely hard, thus we’re thrilled to add them to our ownership team.
The shift toward employee-ownership was the next logical step to ensure our company continues and broadens its tradition of local ownership and control.
Chris Torsleff shares, “Since the very beginning, Stay Montana has focused on nurturing our employees, homeowners and community. Employee-ownership empowers our team, improves job quality, rewards employees directly for our success, and expands local ownership to our hard working team and amazing leaders who live and raise families in the regions we serve.”
If you don’t know them already, meet Laura Dwight and her family on the left below and David Moore and his family on the right below. They are a key part of the Stay Montana family and we’re excited to have them on our ownership team. Read their full bios on our team page!

🤠 Stay Montana Was Delighted to Sponsor Big Sky PBR! 🤠
That’s a wrap on Big Sky PBR! Stay Montana was delighted to sponsor this event and our team had a blast attending! We love supporting our Big Sky community and enjoying a fun summer evening under the Big Sky.
Big Sky PBR is in its 11th year and it gets better every year! It’s known as “Big Sky’s Biggest Event” and we can see why. There were so many fun things to do including bull riding events, nightly concerts, and an art auction, and many folks attended this action packed event!
For the eighth year in a row Big Sky PBR was named “PBR Event of the Year” by PBR’s Heroes & Legends. How cool is that?
Want to come visit for PBR next year? Stay up-to-date and keep tabs on next year’s Big Sky PBR here and book your Big Sky lodging now for the best rates & availability!

We asked Laura some fun questions to get to know her better!
- Where was the best vacation you ever took? Fiji was amazing but I have to say my honeymoon where we ate, hiked & swam our way through Italy was the best.
- What do you think is the most important thing in a home for a guest? Personally, I love decks & views. Waterfront or ski in/out is a bonus!
- If you could cook dinner for a celebrity in one of our vacation homes, who would it be and where? Garth Brooks in one of the gorgeous Slopeside Properties! Then I’d make him go skiing with me! And oh yeah, maybe sing “The Thunder Rolls.”
- When you make a bed, hospital corners or no hospital corners? What are hospital corners? haha.
- What’s your preference, vacation rental, hotel, RV, or tent? Backpacking tent with my pup! Or ski-in/out vacation rental.
- If you were exploring Montana with Lewis and Clark, what was your favorite place? I’d love to check out the caverns but I really love the Yellowstone and Missouri Rivers and want to spend more time on them.
- What is your favorite season? Fall. Although all Montana seasons are pretty spectacular. Mountain biking in the fall is special. Be bare aware!
- Favorite sports team? Pittsburgh Steelers or LA Kings – I’m trying to learn how to play hockey!
What was the most fun you had during the Covid-19 shut down? I put my kids’ plastic swimming pool in my kitchen, filled it with Cheerios and my kids and dog played hungry hungry hippo (sort of).- Favorite book of all time? The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. “Don’t Panic.”
- Are you loyal to any brand? If yes why? Chacos!

Yellowstone National Park’s Northern Loop Reopens!
Yellowstone National Park reopened the northern loop on Saturday, July 2, 2022, after roughly two weeks since historic flooding and damage caused the entire park to shut down while around 10,000 people evacuated the area. The northern loop will be accessible through the southern entrances at West Yellowstone, and at Cody and Jackson, Wyoming.
The northern entrance and northeast entrance roads remain closed.
Are you looking for a place to stay nearby? Check out our available Big Sky rentals! From luxury homes to condos, to more rustic cabins, there’s something for everyone in Big Sky!
The southern loop was reopened on June 22, 2022 with license plate restrictions allowing visitors to enter the park. The license plate restrictions have now been lifted, allowing all visitors to enter the park from the designated entrances.
Northern roads opening include Norris Junction to Mammoth Hot Springs, Mammoth to Tower-Roosevelt and Tower-Roosevelt to Canyon Junction. The northeast entrance road, which goes through the Lamar Valley, is still closed indefinitely.
Backcountry Use: Backcountry use on the southern loop will be open to overnight use beginning Friday, July 1, 2022. Some areas will stay closed due to flood damage.
Biking: Biking in the park is still being evaluated for safety.
Walk-in: Visitors will be allowed to walk into the park without a guide.
Services: Services open on the north loop include the general stores and gas stations at Tower and Mammoth.
To stay up-to-date, check out the National Park Service website for the most current information and updates.
